My copy of Pearl Jam's latest release arrived in my mailbox on Friday from Ten Club. Since that date I've probably listened to the album 30 times. I brought it into the house and popped it into the CD player for the first listen and ever since then it's been locked in the CD player in my car. The car seems to be my current choice of preferred listening.
The CD/Album starts off with 4 great rocking songs. Especially the track above, Gonna See My Friend. There are one or two more rockers later on the CD. The rockers are my favorite, that's Pearl Jam to me. My favorites are Got Some and Supersonic. The CD follows with a couple of slower songs, almost in the "Into The Wild" type of song. These are good also.
For a lot more information I suggest you check out Two Feet Thick and all of their Pearl Jam information, including Ed's talk about Backspacer Track-by-Track.
I like the deal with Target. It still allows them to sell the CD on Ten Club and sell it with independent record stores. Some of which are getting the limited edition The Fixer single which Pearl Jam is using on their Twitter feed to give away. You need to be the first one to the store to get the single on vinyl. So far nothing in my area.
If you're a long time Pearl Jam fan, I think you'll like this CD. If you've never really heard Pearl Jam, you should like this. My son requests that I play it every time he's in the car and even wanted to me to blast it out for the Face-Off Festival this weekend.
This is cool. Too bad there's no Pearl Jam representation. But I'd be okay with John Butler.

Sadly it does not appear that I will make to Summerfest this year. Unless I can make a switch of days/nights with the kids and partake of the fest next weekend. That's always a possibility. There's just something about drinking $7 beers and people watching on a hot day near the smelly lake that can't be beat.At the end of the night, and after four too many beers, I made the Summerfest equivalent of a booty call: I headed over to the M&I Classic Rock Stage to catch the end of Loverboy’s set. I wouldn’t seek out a Loverboy concert under normal circumstances, but that’s the beauty of Summerfest—it provides ample opportunity to see bands you’d only want to see after marinating in alcohol for several hours.
Sounds interesting, looks like it will be available tomorrow (6/5) from Amazon for $3.99. Might be worth that price.
Street Sweeper features Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Nightwatchman.
Opening for Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction starting in May 2009. Looks like I would have to travel to Indiana or Michigan to see them. Only NIN will be in Chicago. Oh well, it's still a fairly cool song.

Dear Bono,
Please, please, please don't change the band's original music. I love it the way it is. I love Boy, and October, and War. I love the raw sound and the energy and the statements. I love how the band sounds together. That is the U2 that I love, that is the U2 that I want to remember as U2.
I don't care for the new U2. I haven't really like them since Achtung Baby. I found a couple of tracks on the new download that I liked. That I might listen to once or twice more.
Please don't change the early stuff. As a matter of fact, I'll be adding that to my iPhone tonight to compliment the "Best of 1980-1990" that I already have on there. I might even listen to that this afternoon.
One of your original fans,
